Network accounts- anyone here use them with success?

I would like very much to switch my users over to a floating network account system where they could login to their own desktop on any computer and the server just stores everything. The idea really appeals to me, it makes the computers more terminals and keeps things cleaner.

Anyone have thoughts or experience with this? I would love to hear someone who does this give me their thoughts.
