software update on 10.6.8 NOT working at all

I go to check for software updates and I have a TON. I click update all...it tells me to restart...I do...and then it DOES NOTHING. Never installs anything.

I am running mac os x 10.6.8.

I tried installing the install update thing from mac and that didn't fix anything either.
