Recovering deleted emails

I have a little problem...I had an email account set up on my Mac. It was receiving and sending emails, but then I removed the account because I lost access to that email account. Deleting the account removed the emails.

Anyway to get the emails that were on that account? Are they anywhere deep inside the Mac?
