Split 255.000 files into subfolders

I have approximately 255.000 files in one folder. It's impossible to work with.

I know that there are some .tar and/or .rar commands in the terminal that you can work with to split files into subfolders, but I don't know how.

Anyone?

Eg, put all these files in folders of 1.000 each would be nice.
