Apple ID from Prior Owner Issue

i bought used iMac.
the person i bought from has their Apple ID information still on this iMac.
i noticed this when i was trying to get drivers for an HP printer. Apple Store Updates has them but i have no access thru prior owners Apple ID.
attempted to contact the person i bought from and he is long gone. he will not answer email.
i tried to delete his Apple ID but not successful.
my Apple ID is in the computer but the Apple Software Update will not allow me to do anything. Keeps going to...

Migration Help

I just received my 2015 iMac and trying to use Migration to transfer data from a 2009 Mac Pro on 10.11 using a time machine backup. I was succesful but when I sign in on the iMac, I get an error "Logging in failed because an error occurred."

Does anyone have a clue? Is it because I have FileVault turned on? I would hate to manually move things over.

Hey guys,

I am trying to reformat my Macbook's hard drive as i am giving it to my mum as i have a new macbook and im trying to reinstall Mac OS X Lion on it. (The original firmware that came with it), hiowever there seems to be problem when i tried to unmount it through disk utility - it says it cant be unmounted.

Currently I am running Mac OS X El Capitan on it, but no matter what i do in Disk Utility in the boot up USB for Lion it just wont unmount it, I tried to repair and verify the...

HI all,
I have a 3TB that I have been using for years. Theres around 200gb space available. So just about everything I had is on that drive (yes I had back ups of certain things but no all of it). I was using the drive in my old G5 for file server use. Well the other day I decided to retire the G5 Running leopard with an Xserve (running lion as its a 2006 model) that I got off ebay, and long story short it only had one drive bay so I put my 3tb in a USB enclosure. tonight i was trying to...

Looking for New Image Viewer

I have been searching for so long for an answer to this issue. I forget which update to OSX it was but they changed the way preview works. Now if you shrink an image to its smallest size there are large areas of empty space on each side of the image. It didn't used to be like this, the image would stop getting smaller but there wouldn't be massive grey areas. I am a digital artist and I put a bunch of images up on my second monitor for reference but there is so much wasted space in these...

Trash = files will be deleted immediately?

I have two partitions on my MBP's internal disk.

Deleting files on the 'system' partition will result in the files going to Trash.

However, on the 'data' partition, deleting files will result in a warning saying that they will be deleted immediately.

How do I get the files deleted on the 'data' partition to go to Trash?

OS X Virtual Machine on Windows...?

Everything points to "it can't be done" or "you shouldn't do it" but I really want to, if it's even possible. Somehow get El Cap running in a vm on my Win10 PC.

I am looking into purchasing a MacBook Pro someday, and I would like to give myself time to adjust and learn/get to know OS X. I have never used OS X in my life for personal use. Yes, I've played around with it in Apple Stores, but nothing that allowed me to really do what I wanted over an extended period.

Couple problems though....

What happens if you try to eject a USB drive while copying files to it?

I just found out that if I'm copying or moving files to a USB drive in OS X, and then I switch to another program, and then I switch back to Finder, the "Copy" progress indicator isn't shown anymore (it's behind Finder). This is unlike in Windows where it always keeps the copy progress indicator at the front of Explorer.

I'm curious what would happen if I ejected the USB drive while it was still copying files? Would it show an error message? Hopefully I haven't ejected a USB drive in the...

What happens if you try to eject a USB drive while copying files to it?

Syst Pref can not turn Web Sharing on. How to fix it?

Computer is Mac OS 10.6.8

In Syst Pref I want to turn Web Sharing on but instead of green, the radio button remains yellow - just can’t
Web Sharing on.

I was told most likely problem is some accidental mess-up in Apache.
I am not familiar with coding and am seeking for advise how to re-set Apache (Web Sharing) to its original settings.

Can someone please instruct me about the exact steps?

Resoring iCal backup from Carbon Copy

Partner's MacBook Pro (2009) broke a few months ago (logicboard shot) and funny enough two days before it did I had backed the whole drive up (now an SSD). Just got it back from http://www.applemacparts.co.uk/store/index.php (cant recommend them highly enough) and his iCal is blank - Can I just drag the folder / file direct from the CC backup onto his user, library, calenders folder and everything will be ok ?

10.11 Default Alert Sound?

What's the default alert sound in El Capitan?

I know it's a dumb question, but I've recently noticed that my Macbook has been making the most annoying sound quite frequently (i.e. basso). Just wondering what the default was as I'm fairly sure it hasn't always made this sound. Is it Funk?

Access Privileges, time machine, Macintosh HD

Error message:

"The folder 'Downloads' could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges."

I get this error message both on my computer and in time machine. I sent in my comp to apple they replaced the hard drive to my surprise; i created a brand new user account without reloading any info off time machine. then once that account was created i opened the migration assistant utility and restored certain information off of time machine. i then deleted the 'new'...

Hi All,

I am operating OSX 10.11.2 on 2 MacBooks (rMBP and MBA) and on a late 2014 MacMini with OS X server installed. I use either of my MBA or rMBP to "control" the Mac Mini through Screen Sharing.

I am always able to Screen Share with either of my MacBooks after I reboot. However, if for some reason i take one of the MacBooks offline for awhile or leave the network and come back to resume Screen Sharing to control the Mac Mini, I get an error message that tells me the Mini is not...

YouTube fullscreen problems in Safari

Hey everyone. Currently I'm using Safari as my default browser however I have some problem with playing video full screen. It is not playing fullscreen properly but mostly only in the quarter of the screen, as you can see on the screenshot. I had never had that problem before but lately this starts happening almost all the time. I tired to solve it by deleting cookies but it fixed the problem only temporary and deleting cookies every time is pretty inconvenient. Does anyone know some...
