Looking for a program to password lock folders

So I know there's a method that's free but it's like a 13 step process to password protect a folder. The user who needs this is not very computer savvy, so I need a streamlined solution. Ideally where you simple right click the folder and say "Password Protect" then whenever it's opened they're prompted for a password.

I realize the pitfalls with this logic, and have expressed that there are better ways to secure folders, however this is what the user wants. Can anyone recommend a program...

Time Machine backup to a router

I just setup Time Machine to use a HDD connected to my Asus wireless router. I chose at setup to make it an encrypted backup but the drive doesn't seem to ask me for a password until I try to mount the sparse bundle named after my Mac. Also no password while connected to the router unless it was the router password for setup. Is this normal?

HELP! save as pdf from word:mac cuts off bottom of document

I need to save a document from word as a pdf to add to a webpage. When I choose "save as" >pdf, I get the error that the header and footer are outside the printable margins... if I continue, it doesn't just cut off the footer, it cuts off about an inch an a half of the document.
I've reset the margins in word to accommodate the entire thing, but it still cuts it off in pdf format.
I've searched for other answers, but it seems that people have more printing issues, not just saving...

Require username AND password everytime?

Is this possible? Under System Preferences->Users & Groups->Login Options there is the option to show the login window as either list of users, or name and password. I selected name and password but it only seems to work when I restart or fully log out of my account. Is there anyway to force it to require both the user and password every time, even after going to sleep?

Thanks

Fastest way to transfer my data?

I would like to transfer at least 300GB of data from my Macbook Pro to my new iMac, if not all of my 700GB. The Macbook Pro is old and only USB 2.0, so it's slow to manually transfer everything. Transferring through wifi is also very slow. I have the space available on my new computer, I'm just not sure of the fastest way to do it.

I do have a Time Machine backup of the Macbook Pro. Is that the fastest way to transfer my data to the new computer? If so, how do I do it? I've never had to use...

Possible to encrypt TM backups ex post facto?

Hello all,

Quick (?) question - I have a few months of *unencrypted* TM backups on my DAS - and only recently discovered the possibility of encrypting them.

Can I switch the encryption on now, somehow, and have future TM backups encrypted? Or will I need to nuke and pave, and start afresh, with (only) new encrypted backups?

Reset your Mac OS X password with out the install disk

I was speaking with a friend and he asked me about resetting his mac without the install disk and I told him well you can despite what other people tell you the only major downside is that you’ll lose all keychain passwords, but if you’ve really forgotten your password, it’s better than nothing. So I decided I would write a post telling you the simple way to reset your password without the install disk. Trust me this does work! It may take you a few times until you get it right....

What is your favorite version of OS X?

Given that El Capitan is arriving soon, I'd like to ask what your favorite OS X version is RIGHT NOW, what you still prefer to use today. Know doubt many responses will relate to hardware so let us know what Mac you are running please. Mine is a MBP mid-2011 and I prefer MAvericks. Yosemite is too sluggish and looks too much like iOS for my preference. Thanks!

My MacBook Pro (OS X 10.4.8) has suddenly locked me out!

When I try to log in (only one user, with admin privileges, FileVault switched on) it rejects the login saying "You are unable to log in to the user account "Adam" at this time". (Read on: it gets worse...)

I'm certain the password is correct (and correctly typed, no caps lock, keyboard working properly etc.).

When it lets me use the master password to change the user password, and I try to do so, I get the same error message...

Ok this is a mess and I should've become more familiar with how itunes works. Anyway, I have a number of itunes databases that reference songs from different hard drives (some drives are now gone). I have a new 27" 512 ssd Imac with the itunes stuff on and external hard drive (maybe there is also a itunes db on the ssd) Anyway, can I just delete all of the itunes libraries (databases) and put all of my music together in one file on the ext hard drive, reboot my computer ... start itunes...

Removing Xcode and Developer?

Hello,

I would like to remove XCode and the developer files from my computer. I don't use them and could use the free space. I'm assuming it won't hurt anything to remove these files? Also, what's the best way to do this.

Thanks

Hey Folks,

I've been using iPhoto V7.1.5 since 2007. Every OSX upgrade since Leopard I've just moved the old iPhoto over. (Yes,,, I know that wasn't very smart.)

Now I would really like to start with something new that is more updated. My problem is I can't update to Apple's Photo 'cause I need all the previous versions of iPhoto (iLife) to upgrade.

Our 'stuff' is: 24" iMac, mid 2007, 8g RAM, OSX 10.8.5, and a MacBook Pro 9,2, 8g RAM, OSX 10.8.5.

So,,, here are my...

Most secure version of Mac OS X

Hi and Happy New Year!

I did not seem to find any thread discussing this. If there is something that I have missed please let me know.

I am currently running OS X Lion on a late 2008 Macbook. I am upgrading the Macbook and will install a newer version of OS X as well.

I know that my question is very broad but:
Which would you recommend as the most secure and stable OS X version to upgrade to?

Thanks.

Just a straight up question.

I've looked for an answer to this question on the forums but have not found it exactly as I need it.

I have an I Mac running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard - very well I might add - and last year I tried to install Turbo Tax via a CD and it would not load because my OS was not a new enough version. I had to use my wifes P.C. Laptop to do my taxes. So here it is time for my taxes again and sure enough, the CD needs to be using a version 10.9 or newer to install and run.
I checked the Apple...

Disappearing HDD space?

I noticed my 10gb of my iMac's HDD space disappeared over the past couple of days. I know that there were 588gb remaining on my HDD space before. Then yesterday, I noticed the free space shrunk down to 583. And now today there is 579 remaining! I did add some files to my computers, but they were songs that were probably 50mb at most. I looked at backup snapshot, Library/Cache folder, Mail folder, iTunes folder, MobileSync folder, etc., but I found nothing out of ordinary. I repaired...
