With the impending removal of iTunes I've got a simple question. I backup both my iPhone and iPad to iTunes. I don't use iCloud and my Mac back-up to an external drive. Am I still going to be able to backup my hardware to my Mac? I really don't want to pay for iCloud. Thanks!

Goodbye 32bit (quick audit of software?)
Since Apple has decided to partake in forced obsel.....sorry....optimise the user experience by removing support for 32bit applications. Any quick way to audit the software on my computer for 32 bit binaries?
I am an academic and I know some software is old and wont be supported already, even things like Endnote is still 32bit. But I want to see what other nasty surprises are in store for me if I do choose to upgrade.

How can I remove the Previous System folder?
I've tried everything. Every single stuck trash app. Tried logging in as root. Cant delete Previous System folder for anything!

HELP NEEDED: Get music on an iPhone... TODAY!
So... I am trying to help out a friend with a really basic task: get music from their computer to their iPhone. However, iTunes is not available as a download for Windows (the button is there but it doesn't work on itunes.apple.com) It was announced earlier today that iTunes is being replaced.
So, my question is, what is someone in this situation supposed to do in the gap?

Help: Getting Error message when trying to clean install MacOS
Hi everyone.
I am new to Mac.
MacBook Air.
Did not boot. Froze on startup.
Went into recovery mode.
Erased disk via Disk Utility.
Tried to install OS. Failed.
Rebooted.

Rebooted into recovery again. This time got "internet recovery".
Got me into the Mojave installer.
Got this error:

Filevault is really nice
I just had to drop my mac off for extended repairs, on the order of weeks.
It really is a nice feeling knowing no matter what, my data is nice and secure. No nagging feeling about what the techs might do, what they might see, what they might do to the OS, just bliss.
I haven’t had this feeling in a looonnnnggg time. With everything going to the cloud, it’s nice to know everything is there, and everything is nice and secure. Very underrated feature.

Does Pages automatically update all the file format documents on my computer....
I have a lot of documents that I archive (into the thousands) and I was wondering... whenever i update Pages, does it automatically update the file format of all the Pages documents on my computer? Or do I have to open a document to have it updated?

I can’t stand the tilted icons - mail, note, reminders, etc. Every major update I’m thinking, please get rid of the tilted app icons.

Seems Dashboard is to be dropped from MacOS Catalina.... What do ya'll think?

- Check exchange rates
- Convert weights and measures
- Check the time in different parts of the world
- Check computer status in iStats
- Listen to BBC radio stations on-line
- Check weather forecast for several days ahead
- Put the computer to sleep after I turn in with iTunes or radio playing.
- And more.

How to SECURE wipe Mojave before returning my my Mac the store?
I have a 12” MacBook that I want to return to the Store. How do I secure wipe the SSD and restore it to its original factory settings? I want a SECURE wipe so that nobody can use a data recovery software and use it to steal my personal information. Simply deleting the partition and restore from the recovery partition wouldn’t be enough.

Has Anyone Ever Known Windows to Corrupt macOS in a Multiboot System?
Firstly, I have a Multiboot system with macOS Sierra on an internal Hard Drive and Windows 10 on an external Solid State Drive. When I installed to BootCamp Support software on my Windows installation it didn't render Windows capable of viewing HFS+ partitions, so I had to install a third-party driver from Paragon for Windows 8.
When I first installed Windows on the SSD, my macOS installation was corrupted in that there were many inexplicable bugs that made the system unworkable.

Is there any issue having an external HD with an HFS+ & APFS partition?
My plan is to format a 2TB drive in 2 partitions on Sierra with Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
1TB will be for a Mojave partition, which when installed, will convert (against my will![:(]( "Frown :(")
) to APFS.
The other 1TB will be a music backup, which will stay on HFS+.

Only volume up F12 not working-stumped!!
Only volume up, F12, not working,
F10 and Fll mute and volume down work perfectly
but not f12 (volume up).
Have used
1 sudo killall coreaudiod
and tried
2 sudo kill -9 `ps ax|grep 'coreaudio[a-z]' | awk '{print $1}'`
3 I can increase the volume using the slider but that should not
be unnecessary.
4 Have restarted.
5 Have gone into system preferences sound and tickeded and unticked boxes
in a variety of permutations.

6 Have gone into system preferences viewer, F12 doesn't...
